The Hult Center for the Performing Arts is the cornerstone of downtown Eugene’s and vibrant arts and culture district, featuring events and programming from resident companies, Broadway presenters, local dance troupes, and touring productions.
The Hult Center is one of the area’s top attractions and provides a full schedule of events all year long. More than 700 events and performances take place at the center in a normal year.
The Hult Center was built in 1982 by the people of Eugene through community fundraising. A large bond measure was passed, and the Hult Center became a reality. Since its grand opening in 1982, the Hult Center has been charming audiences and popular performers alike with its stunning architectural and acoustical features. The Hult Center is operated by the City of Eugene.
Located in the center of downtown, the Hult Center is within easy walking distance of hotels, shopping, art galleries, and restaurants. The Silva Concert Hall features an artistic basket-weave style ceiling with 2500 seats. The Soreng Theater seats 500 in an intimate asymmetrical design with exposed catwalks. The Studio is available for rehearsals, pre-performance talks, meetings, and events.
Current resident companies include:
Eugene Ballet Company
Eugene Concert Choir
Oregon Bach Festival
“The Hult Center is successful because of the community that surrounds it. From the beginning, the community has lent its support to the center through donations of both time and money.
While the Hult Center gives so much to the community, the community also gives back. There
are many ways to get involved at the Hult Center. Volunteer and internship positions are
available. Volunteers help with tasks such as manning the information desk, leading tours, and
assisting ushers. Volunteers join the Support Hult Center Operations — a valued organization of
members who donate their time, enthusiasm, insight, and commitment. For special events and
meetings the Hult Center has inviting spaces, and the staff provides exceptional service.”
The Hult Center has started a new series “Hult Happy Hours”, aimed at using their spotlight to show incredible local talent right here in our own backyard. They’re on the hunt for more artists that can perform a set of 1-hour-or-less and encourage you to apply:
